Mullapally Ramachandran won from Vadakara Lok Sabha constituency in Kerala defeating sitting MP Satheedevi of the CPM. He is the son of freedom fighter Mullapally Gopalan. Ramachandran was agricultural minister in the P V Narasimha Rao government. He is the vice president of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee.
