Jyotiraditya was elected to the Lok Sabha in February 2002 from the constituency of Guna, formerly represented by his father late Madhavrao Scindia, with a margin of victory more than 450,000. He was re-elected to the 14th Lok Sabha when he won the elections in May 2004. He was inducted in the cabinet on April 6th 2008 as Union Minister of State for IT and Communications, Government of India. In the Lok Sabha elections of May 2009, he retained his seat from the constituency of Guna in Madhya Pradesh. He did his MBA in Business from Stanford University, US, in 2001 and went on to work as an investment banker for Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley. He also gained some development experience with the UN Economic Development Cell before entering politics.
